Man Steals Shoes From High Schools
Katie DeLong
WAUKESHA - A man accused of stealing more than 1,500 pairs of shoes from all three Waukesha public high schools and Butler Middle School to satisfy a footwear fetish intends to plead guilty or no contest this month, a judge was told Thursday.
During a brief hearing, Patrick K. Cafferty, the attorney for Erik D. Heinrich, told Waukesha County Circuit Judge J. Mac Davis to schedule Heinrich's Sept. 27 court appearance for a plea hearing.
The Kenosha man is free on $10,000 bail in the case charging him with three counts of burglary.
Heinrich, 27, was convicted of breaking into Kenosha Tremper High School in 2005, entering no-contest pleas to felony burglary and misdemeanor counts of obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct and theft.
The burglary conviction in that case was dismissed at the request of prosecutors in April 2006, after he completed one year of probation that included counseling and 50 hours of community service.
