HECK of a pick by McGehee on a short hop, and McGehee was Casey on the spot, grabbing the baseball between the knees.

This is where the optimist in me reminds myself that he's one swing away from cutting the lead in half.

Then I remember that it's a four-run lead and cringe.

Davey Nelson just cited Buck Rodgers, former Brewers manager.  Whenever I hear that name, I immediately think about the great Daffy Duck spinoff character: "Duck Dodgers in the 24th and a half...CENTURY!!!!"

Why I bring this up, I don't know.

Shallow fly to right and Pence has to slide to make the catch....he doesn't...foul ball, though, so wasted motion for all involved.

He draws a 90-foot soft-shoe stroll down to first base.

Roller swinging bunt....Lyon makes a GREAT throw to barely get Braun after barehanding the ball.

A bunch of signals from 3rd base makes people think he'll bunt, but he's not showing it.

Chopper near the mound...thinks about going to 1st...bluffs...and fakes McGehee out, getting him out at 3rd.  Ugh.  WASTED OPPORTUNITY!

WAIT!  He missed the tag!  2nd time, Brian Gorman blew a call.  Blum took the throw from Rodriguez and didn't get McGehee.

Braun cannot reach a bloop to short left field, and it's a single.  He missed a backhanded lunging catch.

Did Johnson really tag him?  He had his foot on 3rd base before the tag attempt by hurdling over Johnson, and Johnson NEVER tagged him.

Another bounder, right between McGehee and Escobar.  A case of hitting them where they ain't.  That simple.

Subpar year for him: .235 average, zippo in the homer department.

Escobar can't lunge far enough to get the liner for a base hit.

Quickly behind 0-2, the guy K's on a great curve ball by Rodriguez.

Bomb to center and Bourn makes a leaping grab in the shade, right at the wall.  Cory Provus called it a snow-cone catch.  Ugh.  This guy is such a great fielder.

Most other places in this stadium, and it's a homer.

A 4-10 record with just 55 K's so far this year, it's not the best season for Rodriguez.

Weeks, meanwhile, is hitting .450 for the series.  Hot.

El Caballo with the third pop-up of the inning.  McGehee takes it easily.

This time, Escobar takes in the pop-up no problem, except for having to wear shades like Timbuk 3 back in the 80's.

Braun had to make a last-second adjustment to make a catch...he was trying to avoid Escobar and almost lost the ball.

Pregame

Macha: "To me, (Bush) has got to pitch his game." 

That means pinpoint accuracy against a Houston team with players like Carlos Lee that has owned Bushie in the past.

What?  Three home series wins in a row?  Yes, sir...if Dave Bush does the job today.

He also many need to do the job today to keep his job as a starter, considering the team was looking at a six-man rotation, but will probably not be doing so.
