Playboy Names Marquette Top Catholic Party School
MILWAUKEE - Marquette University topped the list of one national magazine. But it's likely not an an honor it will brag about.
Playboy says Marquette is the top Catholic party school in the country.
Marquette University students have been known to throw a party or two- especially when the basketball team makes the final four.
But Best Catholic Party School? Even the late Chris Farley, a former MU student would be surprised.
Senior Stephanie Guertin is even more surprised.
"I saw that on facebook, said Guertin, "by one of these guys I know and I was like what are you kidding me? I thought it was kind of absurd."
So why Marquette? The article doesn't really say why. It just says an honorable mention: Best Catholic Party School.
We even looked for parties on a Monday night, but could only find invitations for events serving coffee.
"don’t know why a magazine like Playboy would mention us as a party school," said Marquette student Patrick Schoen.
We interrupted Schoen and Kristin Skells studying. They are just as perplexed by the title and hope their parents didn't get the wrong message.
"I know there's a lot of partying that goes on at Marquette like any other college," said Skells 'but there are a lot of catholic schools and I was surprised we have any kind of honorable mention."
"Well, mom and dad I’m studying hard," said Schoen."I’m not partying, I'm just hitting the books as hard, as you can see."
Students tell us the university has a better reputation as a service for others. In fact 1500 students participated in a program this past weekend to help the homeless. The school also says it promotes many alcohol free events on campus.
