Update: Fatal Hit-&-Run Crash Downtown
MILWAUKEE - Police are releasing new details about a deadly hit-and-run from over the weekend.
A 35-year-old Milwaukee man died early Sunday after he and another man were hit by an SUV at Broadway and Wisconsin.
The driver of the SUV drove up on the sidewalk to hit the victims, police said Monday. The vehicle is described as a tan Chevy Blazer with a roof rack and Wisconsin plates.
The victim, a registered sex offender with a number of drug arrests, was in the area where a large fight broke out at the 311 Restaurant.
The nightclub officials asked all the people who were fighting to leave and police say a large crowd left the bar, only to continue arguing outside.
Investigators are seeking his friend so they can talk with him.
The vehicle is described as a tan or dark colored older model Cehvy Blazer. It may have some front-end damage.
Anyone with information is asked to call Milwaukee Police at (414) 935-7360.
The news was troubling to Khrystyne Ferra who works next door. "I would expect a fight because sometimes it gets pretty loud, but I didn't expect anybody to take it in the street because it's never gotten serious before."
Ferra said in the summertime, 311's crowd can get rowdy, but she's never seen violence.
Another neighbor Fred Lochbihler was also shocked by the hit and run attack. "Never had any sort of complaints about them."
Lochbihler hopes it's a onetime incident. "It's an occurrence few and far between, and from the sounds of it, from what I understand, it was a personal vendetta. One time. But if it was just a random sort of incident of hit and run, yeah I would become worried."
