Man Pleads No Contest in Sheboygan Pig Stop Crash Death
SHEBOYGAN - A man accused of driving through the windows of a Sheboygan convenience store and killing a teenage worker there has pleaded no contest to a felony homicide charge as part of a plea deal.
Jeremy Pfister, 32, changed his plea from not guilty and pleaded to the charge of felony homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving causing injury in the death of Emily Hughes, 18.
Sheboygan Police say that Pfister backed his minivan through the side of the Pig Stop on the 2900 block of 15th Street in Sheboygan, striking Hughes. She eventually died.
Pfister apparently was driving from the passenger's side of the van when the incident happened.
The homicide charge agreement included a deferred conviction for two years if he pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor.
That means that if Pfister stays out of trouble for two years, the homicide charge will be dropped.
The state is recommending six months in jail and a year of probation. There has been no date set for his sentencing.
