Local NewsStore Owner Gunned Down in RacineBy Shelley WalcottRACINE - The search is on for the person or people who shot and killed a store owner in Racine, and so far investigators say they don't have very many leads. Police say they received several calls about a shooting at Moe's Market at 1949 Racine Street just after 5:30 Friday afternoon. When they arrived they found the store's owner, 41-year-old Mohamed Shehadeh, had been shot. "The first officers on the scene entered the store, the door was unlocked, they entered the store and inside the store they found a victim deceased on the floor," said Racine Police Sgt. Bernard Kupper. Police taped off several blocks around the store, and fanned out to search nearby homes and alleys. But so far, there is no sign of the gunman. "We are still looking for witnesses and suspects," said Sgt. Kupper. Police are hoping video surveillance from the store will help identify a suspect. Until then, people here are mourning the cruel death of a man, who was known for giving people a break. "If you were short money he'd let you go, and give people credit. And it's just a shame my condolences to out to the family," said one woman. The Racine Journal Times also reports Shehadeh had 4 young children. If you have any information you are asked to call Racine Police at (262) 635-7700.
