Air Quality Advisory in Wisconsin
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin continues to struggle with poor air quality.
The state Department of Natural Resources extended an air quality advisory Thursday for a fifth day as soot levels remained high. The DNR says the last time the levels remained this high for this long was in February 2005.
DNR air monitoring chief Bart Sponseller says polluted air becomes trapped in the atmosphere and current weather conditions aren't enough to blow it away.
The advisory means that air quality is unhealthy for people with heart and lung disease, older adults and children.
The Journal Sentinel reports the advisory could be extended Friday.
