Local NewsSerious Injuries, Diesel Spill after Two Semis, Jeep Crash in PlymouthBy Jay SorgiPLYMOUTH - Three drivers were hurt when a Jeep got into a crash with two semis in Sheboygan County, a crash which caused a diesel spill. It happened on County Highway PP and Prairie Road near Plymouth on Tuesday. Sheboygan County Sheriff's Sergeant Blaine Spicer said that a semi was going eastbound on Highway PP and was trying to make a left turn onto Prairie. He stopped for traffic, and the Jeep Cherokee following behind also stopped. A tanker semi truck going east on PP slid on frost-covered roads and rear-ended the Jeep into the stopped semi. City of Plymouth JAWS units helped extricate Timothy Christensen, 45, of Plymouth, from the Jeep, and crews took him to St. Nicholas Hospital. Spicer said Christensen had serious injuries. The driver of the stopped semi, Justin Simon, 27, of Fond du Lac, complained of injuries, but refused medical attention at the scene. The driver of the tanker, Steven Guelig, 51, of Cascade, was taken to the hospital by Plymouth Ambulance. Both semis then went off the road, and one of them ended up on a live power box. Each of them leaked diesel fuel after the accident. Hazmat teams and other authorities responded to the scene, and the Wisconsin DNR was notified. "Any type of fuel leaked into the groundwater (presents) environmental issues," said Spicer. "We want to get that cleaned up as soon as possible." Spicer said that the heavy fog and frost-covered roads contributed to the crash.
