Local NewsPlane Makes Emergency Landing in CornfieldBy Shelley WalcottTOWN OF BLOOMFIELD - Imagine flying a plane at 25-hundred feet and suddenly the engine dies on you. That's exactly what happened to a pilot from Aurora, Illinois Saturday night. He was on his way to Green Bay when his engine suddenly froze up over the Town of Bloomfield in Walworth County. The pilot saw a squad car on the ground, and decided to try and land his plane nearby. He guided the single engine Cessna down into a cornfield, and miraculously walked away with no major injuries. Town of Bloomfield police Officer Craig Rasmussen told TODAY'S TMJ4 the plane was seriously damaged, and is considered a total loss. The pilot was taken to Burlington Hospital as a precaution. Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration are expected in town Sunday to investigate. The emergency landing took place near County Highway U & Eastside Road.
