State Hands Out $55,000 to Crime Victims

  • Print

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state Justice Department disbursed about $55,000 in court settlements and restitution to crime victims in the last half of 2009.

A memo from the agency to the Legislature's Joint Finance Committee says the agency money came from cases involving fraudulent travel club membership sales and a nursing home administrator accused of stealing employees' retirement funds and residents' trust funds.

Other cases included a dentist accused of misinforming patients that Medicaid didn't cover his services and a health club accused of violating state marketing laws.
