Local NewsLawmakers Want To End Access to 911 AudioMADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A state Assembly committee is set to review a bill that would end public access to 911 audio recordings. Right now, the recordings are considered an open record under Wisconsin's open government laws. Media outlets often obtain them and play them on the air or online in high-profile crimes. A group of lawmakers led by Rep. Amy Sue Vruwink, a Milladore Democrat, have proposed a bill that would limit 911 access to transcripts only. Vruwink didn't immediately return a message.
