Local NewsFormer Tosa West Student Arrested in Facebook Threat InvestigationBy Charles Benson and Elizabeth BraunWAUWATOSA - An arrest has been made for the Facebook threats against Wauwatosa East and West high school students. A source close to the investigation says the suspect is a former Wauwatosa West student who now lives in California. The suspect got on the social networking site and said there would be a "blood bath." Wauwatosa Police won't return calls about the arrest, but students at Wauwatosa West seemed to know all about the former freshmen who was arrested in California for making the death threats. "I'm shocked that someone from West would do that. They used to go here. It's not funny," says student Kaitlyn Guttr. Student Shannon Wheeler wasn't laughing either. "I figured it had to be a disgruntled student," she said. Wheeler's mother heard about the arrest as well. She kept her daughter home from school on Monday even though her daughter was not a target of the threats. "I thought it was kind of strange she did not get the friend invite. I was glad she didn't, but I took it very seriously." The threats were made on Facebook to students who became friends with a person calling himself 'Wauwatosa bug.' Students say the person eventually apologized to one of the targeted victims and that's how police were able to find out who he was and arrest him. Student Hannah Wishart is happy someone is in custody. "Even if he was doing it as a joke it's not right so I think that's what they deserved." We are not using the suspects name because he hasn't been charged, and he is a minor. |
