Report: $2 Billion Milwaukee County Pension Debt
MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee County may be close to what a new report calls a full blown financial crisis.
The report says Milwaukee County's long term debt from it's pension and health care plans is $2 billion.
The Public Policy Institute crunched the numbers and says the financial crisis looming is so bad that county officials should consider reforms as drastic as merging with the city.
Researchers say other options could include cutting programs and benefits.
The report says, "the urgency of this matter cannot be overstated."
