Ludacris to Keep It Clean at Summerfest
Michael George
MILWAUKEE -- Ludacris, one of the most well known rappers in the world, won't be performing a typical show at Summerfest. He's been asked to perform a "clean" concert with no obscenities.
He's sold millions of records and has 3 Grammys to his name. At his concert on Sunday, he had a diverse group of fans of all ages waiting to see him.
“I love Ludacris,” said Megan Joanis.
He's even got an career acting in TV shows like "Law & Order", and movies, such as "Crash" and "Hustle & Flow". But it's his music that has some people concerned. He's been called out for using offensive lyrics in the past.
But fans of Ludacris say his lyrics aren’t meant to be taken literally. It’s all about having a good time.
“I’m here with my daughters and a friend of the family,” said Sonya Conipal, a Ludacris fan.
Conipal is one of many parents who brought her kids to the concert. She doesn't think Ludacris words are violent and sexist.
“I don’t think so. I think you just take it the way it is. It’s just fun entertainment," she said.
Conipal says her daughters listen to Ludacris, but they don't emulate him.
“It’s for me to tell them what’s appropriate and not appropriate and how they should view life, not a rapper,” Conipal said.
Ludacris' younger fans agree.
“He does have some aggressive lyrics, but if you don’t really take them to the head, then you're not going to do what he say to do,” said Brendan Winters.
Ludacris is also expected to give a statement discouraging kids from violence during the concert.
