SE Wisconsin Digs Out
MILWAUKEE - 24 hours of constant snow in Southeastern Wisconsin has made your shovel or snowblower have to work overtime.
Especially if you live in Milwaukee County, where snow levels are approaching a foot after the latest storm.
"It looks like in Milwaukee County, totals are going to come in an inch or two on either side of 10 inches, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12 inches in Milwaukee County," said Storm Team 4Caster Craig Koplien.
"That holds in Eastern Waukesha County and in the north. In fact, most places from eastern Waukesha County north into Washington County will end up with 10, 11 or 12 inches or so."
If some of you see snow falling again today, don't worry. You won't have to shovel a huge pile of snow again for a while.
You also have a lot of displaced snow, thanks to the wind blowing it around in the late night hours.
"The winds did come up a little bit overnight. That led to blowing and drifting of the snow to some extent, but the winds weren't terrible. We didn't see a major situation with a lot of blowing, but especially the east-west roads, because the winds were from the north, the east-west roads were susceptible to that. All the main east-west arteries, not only I-94, but Capitol (Drive), Silver Spring (Drive), Good Hope (Road) and so forth."
If you like outdoor activities that involve snow, this weekend could be a dream weekend.
"It really look like a great weekend to do things in the snow, if you're into that sort of thing, skiing, snowmobiling or what have you," says Koplien. "(There will be) beautiful sunshine both days, Saturday and Sunday. The temperatures are going to be on the cold side, but it's not going to be that windy. Tomorrow the highs will be on in the upper teens, Sunday the low 20's. That's cold, but we're not talking about terrible winds. All in all, a pretty nice weekend to do things in the snow."
