Milwaukee Police Sergeant Foils Robbery

MILWAUKEE - A Milwaukee police sergeant was off duty last night when she noticed that a CVS Pharmacy was being robbed.

Sergeant Pamela Holmes went into the pharmacy Tuesday night to buy Christmas ornaments. But as soon as she walked into the store, something didn't look right:

"I walk in and I look over to my right and I see this guy leaning over the counter at the cashier. They're like forehead to forehead, and I'm like, what's wrong with that picture?"

The off duty police officer's instincts told her there was a problem.

"I was like, maybe he's robbing the store. And I was like nah. But what if he is? So then I positioned myself, and put my hands.. um... actually located my firearm."

She walked toward an aisle in the pharmacy, when she heard the cashier.

"The girl screamed, 'Help we're being robbed!' So I turned around to see the suspect running out of the store."

Sergeant Holmes followed, trailing the suspect in her personal vehicle. She called 911 and demanded the dispatcher send squads to nearby North 56th Street, where the suspect had fled.

It didn't take long for police to arrest him, and retrieve a bag of cash.

The 22 year old suspect is also being questioned in a string of armed robberies in this area.
