MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office charged Scott R. Shallcross with four felonies and a misdemeanor in connection with a deadly drunk driving crash that killed two people on Thanksgiving night.

Shallcross, 26, was charged with two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle in the deaths of Thomas Ballman and Jeremy Neuenfeldt.

According to a criminal complaint, Shallcross had a blood alcohol level of .158--nearly twice the legal limit--when he crashed his Honda Civic into Ballman's pickup truck on S. Howell Ave.

Shallcross admitted to police that he was driving around 85 miles per hour on Howell at the time of the crash.  He also told police he and a friend drank two bottles of wine, an orange juice jug filled with different wine, and several beers at Thanksgiving dinner.

After that, he told police he and the friend went to several area bars and had drinks there. He then told investigators he got behind the wheel.  Although he was charged, he did not appear in court, because he remains hospitalized from the injuries he received in the crash.  His passenger also remains hospitalized.

If convicted on all five charges, Shallcross could spend the rest of his life in prison.
