Local NewsCody Reetz Laid To RestBy Lauren LeamanczykWEST BEND - Hundreds came to say goodbye to Cody Reetz Friday. The 14-year-old with an infectious smile was murdered by his own stepfather. Many of the mourners were Cody's classmates and friends at John Long Middle School in Grafton. "He always smiled. He was always happy," said Dennis Ecksler. "To know that his life was taken and it didn't have to be is extremely hard to understand," said Emily Marie Willms. Willms says everyone knew Cody because of his trademark Mohawk hairstyle. Some people came from as far as Door County to support Cody's family. Many had never met the boy but were heartbroken by his story. Nancy Turk, who lives next door to Cody's father, says she remembers him playing in her yard as a little kid. She's angry and sad. "He was a young, loving, spirited kid. But the bottom line is someone took his life from him," she said.
