Man Takes Wild Ride As His Truck is Stolen

By Charles Benson

SOUTH MILWAUKEE - He caught someone breaking in to his pickup truck on Tuesday afternoon. But instead of calling 911, he decided not to let the guy get away.

When the victim, who wishes to be known only as Dan, jumped on the suspect's getaway vehicle, his wife Roxanne says it was all instinct and adrenaline.

"It was just adrenaline. He wanted to stop the person who had broken into this truck and was trying to take items from him."

Dan held on to the sunroof as the 20-year-old suspect raced down College Avenue trying everything possible to knock Dan off the car.

As the victim was holding on for dear life with his arms around the sunroof - the suspect was biting his arms. Dan ended up in the hospital with five bite marks.

Dan's dramatic ride lasted three miles through crowded intersections, bumpy roads and sharp turns. It finally ended when the suspect lost control and ran from the car. Roxanne caught up with Dan in the hospital.

"When I asked him, 'What were you thinking?' He said he had realized what was going on and how long he had been on the vehicle and that he couldn't hold on much longer," Roxanne explained.

Dan will remain in the hospital overnight, but his wife says he will be OK.  The suspect was arrested and charges are pending.
