Local NewsBus Drivers Charged with Child Porn and Sexual AssaultBy Charles BensonMILWAUKEE - Robert Artley is one of two school bus drivers accused of doing the unthinkable with children, and that's just part of the strange story. The disturbing charges against the bus drivers do not involve any of the children who were on their buses. But in a plea deal with prosecutors Wednesday, the 38-year-old Artley admitted he screwed up. "Do you agree that the facts in here are true?" asked Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Rebecca Dallet. "Yes, your honor," responded Artley. His own 15-year-old son found photos of a 7-year-old on a memory card in August and told the girl's mother. "I now find you guilty of sexual exploitation of a child," said Judge Dallet. The mother and police later found more nude pictures on a cell phone, including unknown adult males having sex with boys. Artley drove a school bus for Atlas Transit in Milwaukee. So did 57-year-old John Anderson. He was charged last month with sexually assaulting his girlfriend's 10-year-old daughter. The bus company would not talk to TODAY'S TMJ4 on camera. The boss at Atlas says both drivers passed background checks and the company never received any complaints about either driver. Anderson was kicked off the payroll because he was in jail and never showed up for work. Artley was fired because the bus company's new insurance company didn't like his driving record. Several school districts use Atlas Transit. |
