Ash Borer Found in Oak Creek

  • Print

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- State wildlife officials say they found the emerald ash borer in the city of Oak Creek on Thursday, about two miles from where the tree parasite was found in August.

The emerald ash borer was first found in Milwaukee County on Aug. 27 in the city of Franklin, which is adjacent to Oak Creek.
Officials have now found the tree-killing insect in seven Wisconsin counties, including Milwaukee, Brown, Crawford, Kenosha, Ozaukee, Vernon and Washington counties.

The beetle's larvae attack ash trees and can eventually kill them by disrupting the flow of nutrients.
