Local NewsBarrett Expects Decision by End of WeekBy Dan O'DonnellMILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett said Wednesday that he would make a decision on whether to run for the Democratic Party's nomination for governor by the end of this week. In joint interview with Republic Airways CEO Bryan Bedford, Barrett said he would reach a decision "one way or another." The Democratic Party is without any major candidates for governor after incumbent Gov. Jim Doyle decided against seeking a third term and current Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton dropped out of the race. Barrett met last week with President Barack Obama's top political strategist and has been under increasing pressure to run. Madison businessman Kevin Conroy is also considering running as a Democrat.
