WAUKESHA - New court documents filed at the Waukesha County Courthouse give a better idea of what happened the day an Oconomowoc mother was murdered inside her home.

Thirty nine year old Kim Smith was a mother, a girlfriend and a daughter. Now police are working to find the man they believed cut her life short on October 1.

The complaint and subpoena may help police get one step closer to finding 26-year-old Justin Patrick Welch... the man they believe killed her.

Welch is from Stockton, California where he has a felony record. His DNA is in the nationwide database. An affidavit says Welch's fingerprints were found on a knife inside Smith's home and on a pair of latex gloves found in a sewer drain nearby.

Police also subpoenaed cell phone records from Welch's estranged wife. She says Welch called her from a blocked number on October 16. Investigators believe if they find the number Welch called from, they may be able to find him.
