Local NewsGirl Ejected in Kewaskum CrashKEWASKUM - A 16-year-old girl was ejected from a car during a crash Friday night on Highway 45. She was flown to Children's Hospital in Wauwatosa by a Flight for Life helicopter, but her injuries appear to be non-life threatening. Three men were taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in the town of Polk by Kewaskum Rescue. Their injuries are also non-life threatening according to the Washington County Sheriff's Department. The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 45 and Highway H (Badger Rd.) in the town of Kewaskum. The girl and a young man were passengers in a car driven by 18-year-old Cory A. Defatte of Campbellsport. According to investigators, their car was eastbound on Highway H. They stopped briefly for a red light at Highway 45, and then started to make a left turn onto Highway 45 northbound, before the light had turned green. Their car was broadsided by a southbound pick-up truck driven by 36-year-old Gregory J. Vorpahl of Kewaskum. As a result of the accident, both north and southbound lanes of Highway 45 were closed to traffic for about an hour and twenty minutes. The accident remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, but neither speed nor alcohols appear to be contributing factors. |
