Local NewsPregnant Women Finally Get Swine Flu ShotsBy Lauren LeamanczykMENOMONEE FALLS - Waukesha County didn't have any injectable H1N1 vaccine available at its public clinics. And many local health care providers also didn't have the shot, until now. Pregnant women and people with health conditions are only able to receive the swine flu vaccine through a shot rather than the nasal mist. ProHealth Care system in Waukesha County just got its first shipment of the shot in for patients. They distributed it first to their OB-Gyn clinics in the area. At a Menomonee Falls office, nurses spent Thursday calling pregnant women and asking them if they'd like to receive the shot. There is not enough for everyone and the shot is being offered to the highest risk women first. Still, getting the shot Thursday was a relief to Lisa Bennett, who is pregnant and works as a teacher. "I know we've had a lot of illness in school lately," she said. "So it probably hits a little closer to home than for most people."
