Milwaukee Co. Committee Changes Budget Proposal

By Jodi Becker

MILWAUKEE - The finance committee for the Milwaukee County Board is slicing and dicing the budget.

The committee has voted to save the jobs of some parks workers.

County Executive Scott Walker's 2010 proposal also included plans for parking meters along the lakefront, a proposal upheld in committee.

Other tweaks include sinking plans for three new splash pads for young swimmers.

The committee voted to keep Pulaski and Noyes indoor pools open instead, and add indoor water parks at those locations instead of building new aquatics centers in some southern suburbs.
