Local NewsTaycheedah Inmate from Delavan, 37, DiesBy Jay SorgiMADISON - Wisconsin Department of Corrections officials have confirmed the death of a 37-year-old inmate from Delavan. DOC Spokesman John Dipko says that Venus Rodriguez was pronounced dead on October 14th at a Fond du Lac hospital. Rodriguez was serving a four-year sentence at Taycheedah Correctional Institution for women, located in Fond du Lac. Two years of her sentence were for a forgery conviction. According to the Wisconsin State Journal, Rodriguez had suffered a "life-threatening" affliction on October 10th. The Fond du Lac Medical Examiner's office is investigating the cause of death. Wisconsin's ACLU sued the state in 2006. The suit alleged that inmates at Taycheedah did not receive adequate mental health and medical care. |
