Local NewsMan Murders Ex-Wife, Takes His Own LifeBy Diane Pathieu and Jay SorgiWEST BEND - Authorities found the dead bodies of a man and woman in the woman's driveway after what authorities call a murder-suicide. West Bend Police say Jeffrey Gill, 50, shot Alice Gill, his 52-year-old ex-wife, outside her home before turning the gun on himself. ATF agents have been investigating the situation after the discovery of a detonated pipe bomb which he placed in her SUV which was still running. It is unknown whether the bomb detonated before the shootings. The incident happened just after 12:00 a.m. on Thursday morning on the 1200 block of 12th Street. Both bodies were lying very close to each other next to the woman's SUV. Police say that Alice left work at about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night, and arrived home just before midnight. The woman's 27-year-old son heard yelling and a beeing car horn outside the home around that time. The son saw Alice and Jeffrey struggling inside the car. He attempted to help when Jeffrey started firing a handgun. She tried to flee, but he chased her and shot her several times before taking his own life. Her daughter arrived at the scene later on. Alice and Jeffrey were divorced in 2007. Jeffrey has six arrests for OWI and previous arrests for Possession of Controlled Substance and Disorderly Conduct for domestic violence. |
