2,200 Still Without Power After Sunday Storms

  • Print

MILWAUKEE - Strong storms moved through southeastern Wisconsin Sunday blowing over trees and knocking out power to thousands of people.

At last check, there were an estimated 2,200 We Energies customers without power, a big improvement from the 28,000 customers that at one point were in the dark.

More than 150 electrical wires were down because of severe weather.  The winds snapped as many as 20 power poles.

According to We Energies spokesperson Barry McNulty, the worst hit spots were the areas around Caledonia and the City of Racine.

It may take some time to restore some of the outages.

"There are some areas that certainly are going to have poles that are in areas with water and more swampy conditions," says McNulty. "That definitely can thwart our efforts to restore power."
