Local NewsWoman Killed Wrong Way Crash on Hy. 57By Sean O'FlahertySAUKVILLE - A 43-year-old woman from Manitowoc County was killed Tuesday on Highway 57 when her car went out of control, crossed over into the opposite lanes of traffic and hit a semi tractor-trailer. The victim was identified as Brenda Hiland of Kiel. Her 2007 Chevy Impala was northbound on Highway 57 near County Highway W at 3:51 p.m. According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office, Hiland crossed through the median before entering the southbound traffic lanes. The southbound semi was unable to stop before it was struck by the Impala. Hiland was taken to Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon where she later died. No charges are expected to be filed. The driver of the semi was identified as Kelvin White, 45, from Terrell Texas. He was treated and released for minor injuries. |
