2-4 entering this at bat, Dunn bombs one to center - 395 feet, but it's 400 to the wall.  Cammy again.

With Hoffman working in the pen, a 340 foot fly to left center falls in Cammy's glove.

Aaaagh!  A walk.

Bottom 8th

3:35 p.m.  3 Out
MacDougal vs. Hardy
Shot to center and Morgan's speed stops the inning.  Cue Vaughn!

3:33 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
MacDougal vs. Kendall
Jake Taylor at bat, and he strikes out against the Duke...but Ricky Vaughn comes in after the next out.

3:32 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Milwaukee 7, Washington 3
MacDougal vs. Kendall
A second wild pitch scores Cameron!  Ueck even said "Juuuuust a bit outside!"

3:31 p.m.  1 Out, Runners on 1st and 3rd
MacDougal vs. Catalanotto
Frankie Can O'Tomatoes gets intentionally walked.

Bud Selig gets to blow out birthday candles today.   How old?

3:29 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 3rd
Milwaukee 6, Washington 3
MacDougal vs. Cameron

Bomb to right-center, warning track power, Morgan makes the catch, but a run scores.

3:28 p.m.  Runners on 2nd and 3rd
MacDougal vs. Cameron
First pitch goes wild past Nieves.

3:27 p.m.  Runners on 1st and 2nd
MacDougal vs. Hart
Corey takes one past Zimmerman into left.  Can Milwaukee put this game away?

3:25 p.m.  Runner on 1st
MacDougal vs. Fielder
As the sun peers through the west glass above the upper deck and Miller Park plays my wife's favorite song, "Walkin' on Sunshine"...you know Katrina and the Waves' career was altered forever by Hurricane Katrina...sad...Fielder slaps a base knock to left.

Top 8th

3:21 p.m.  3 Out
Coffey vs. Morgan
Swinging foul tip on a 95 mph fastball and Kendall hangs on.

3:19 p.m.  2 Out
Coffey vs. Belliard
Hart takes it in medium right field for the second out.  Now comes Morgan, the Brewers killer who's 10-17 in the series.

3:15 p.m.  1 Out
Coffey vs. Hernandez
After just 2,917 foul balls, and a rendition of Gilligan's Island by the organ, it's a "half swing strike three gone!" as Ueck called it.

Twitter @haudricourt
"Brewers go over 2 million attendance today. They are playing to 93% capacity at Miller Park. Stunning in this economy and market."

Bottom 7th

3:13 p.m.  3 Out
Burnett vs. Braun
Grounder up the middle and Gonzalez makes a diving play for the force at 2nd.  Fine defensive stop.

3:11 p.m.  2 Out, Runners on 1st and 3rd
Milwaukee 5, Washington 3
Burnett vs. Counsell
The game's first home run hero gets a fielder's choice before the relay throw is wide and McGehee scores!

3:10 p.m.  1 Out, Bases Loaded
Burnett vs. Lopez
Intentional pass.  Smart.

3:08 p.m.  1 Out, Runners on 2nd and 3rd
Burnett vs. Hardy
A Hardy sacrifice gets runners advanced.

3:02 p.m.  Runners on 1st and 2nd
Milwaukee 4, Washington 3
Martin vs. Kendall
Bullpen, both a lefty and righty going for Washington.

Shot up along 3rd and Cameron BARELY slides under the throw home!  Nieves didn't block the plate properly and the tag was high.

3:01 p.m.  Runners on 1st and 3rd
Martin vs. McGehee
Slap to right field...and Cameron smartly holds on Dunn's arm.  Keep the inning alive, boys!

2:59 p.m.  Runner on 2nd
Martin vs. Cameron
I just saw a fan, 20-something-ish with the figure of a Packers defensive tackle, with a green fake afro on his head.  That...is....AWESOME!!!!

Just as awesome, a leadoff double down the left field line.

Top 7th

2:56 p.m.  3 Out
Gallardo vs. Nieves
"SWINGANDAMISS...HE GOT HIM!"

2:55 p.m.  2 Out
Gallardo vs. Harris
Cameron back-pedals, then comes in, then waffles on his leg movements like Brett Favre did with his retirement before grabbing the out.

2:52 p.m. 1 Out
Gallardo vs. Zimmerman
Now past 100 pitches, on a 3-2 count again, "STRIKE THREE CALLED!"  Yovani's 10th K.

The sun now starts to peer through the glass above the west stands.  Beautiful.

Bottom 6th

2:50 p.m.  3 Out
Martin vs. Hart
Corey hits one 390 feet....to dead center where it falls into Morgan's glove.

2:48 p.m.  2 Out
Martin vs. Fielder
Another medium center field shot.  That might be "very medium" worthy.

2:46 p.m.  1 Out
Martin vs. Braun
After the Hot Dog slaps five with all the Washington Nationals in the dugout, he loses to the Italian...based on the replay we could see.  Cut off early.

Anyway, Braun pops one up to Zimmerman.  This is Harry Caray "that wouldn't be a home run in a telephone booth" worthy.

Top 6th

2:42 p.m.  3 Out
Gallardo vs. Dunn
Another 3-2 count, "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE STRUCK HIM OUT SWINGING!"

2:39 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 3rd
Gallardo vs. Johnson
Going 3-2 on a barely-missed sinker at 2-2, "STRUCK HIM OUT SWINGING!"  6th K for Gallardo.

2:38 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 3rd
Gallardo vs. Gonzalez
Bunted for a sacrifice....Washington poised to take the lead.

2:37 p.m.  Runner on 2nd
Gallardo vs. Morgan
The stop sign goes up for Morgan at 2nd from 3rd base coach Pat Listach.  That slap to right could have been three.

Bottom 5th

2:34 p.m.  3 Out
Martin vs. Counsell
A pop fly to left, playable for Harris.  He's nice enough to give the ball to a fan in the first row.

There's a "midget" polka-ing with Bernie Brewer in the chalet, and he's dressed like a leprechan.  Huh?

2:33 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Martin vs. Lopez
6 for 16 in this series after sending a double to right center.  Hilarious watching the second baseman just put his arm extended over his head to try and field a ball 10 feet over his head.

2:31 p.m.  2 Out
Martin vs. Gallardo
Yovani slaps a soft liner to center for an out.

2:30 p.m.  1 Out
Martin vs. Kendall
First-ball hit tapped to Martin.  Easy as huckleberry pie.  Wait, I've never had that, nor baked it.  No right to make such comments!

Top 5th

2:27 p.m.  3 Out
Gallardo vs. Martin
A slam down the left field line goes foul...a few feet more fair and it's at least a double.  Then, it's a check swing strike three.

2:25 p.m.  2 Out
Gallardo vs. Hernandez
Fly to "very medium" left center for Cameron.  Ueck, what is very medium?  It's medium or it's not?  Ah, but we love ya, Ueck!  :)

2:23 p.m.  1 Out
Gallardo vs. Nieves
Great barehanded throw on the slow roller by McGehee at 3rd.

Bottom 4th Inning

2:21 p.m.  3 Out
Martin vs. McGehee
The pitcher seems to be target practice for shots up the middle.  Still, he controls this one and gets the out.

2:21 p.m.  2 Out
Martin vs. Cameron
Same fate as Hart.  Thank goodness for Fielder's jack.

2:20 p.m.  1 Out
Martin vs. Hart
He goes strike three, chasing a slider.

2:18 p.m.
Milwaukee 3, Washington 3
Martin vs. Fielder
Well, boys, we need a comeback. Fielder just gave it!!!!  First-pitch bomb to right!

Top 4th Inning

2:15 p.m.  3 Out
Gallardo vs. Harris
"Strike three called and Harris knew it."

2:13 p.m.  2 Out
Washington 3, Milwaukee 2
Gallardo vs. Zimmerman
Bomb to left field and Zimmerman hits the Nats into the lead.

2:10 p.m.  2 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Gallardo vs. Dunn
3-2 count..."STRIKE THREE CALLED!"  Dunn uses a bad, bad word, but doesn't get tossed.  5 K's.

2:07 p.m.  1 Out, Runners on 1st and 2nd
Gallardo vs. Johnson
After a full count, Yovani fills two of the three bases with a walk.

Twitter: @haudricourt
"The more you watch Nyjer Morgan, the more you realize how dumb the Pirates were to trade him for Lastings Milledge, etc. Morgan can play."

2:05 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Gallardo vs. Gonzalez
5,000 foul balls later, "Strike three called!"  4 K's for Yovani.

2:02 p.m.  Runner on 2nd
Gallardo vs. Gonzalez
Morgan on 1st, having the ball thrown back to the base often, and Morgan's left side of his uniform is no longer gray, but Cleveland brown.

For the first time, someone steals a base on Kendall.  It's Morgan - his 14th steal in July.  Wow.

2:01 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Gallardo vs. Morgan
The guy who didn't get a chance to complete an at bat in the 3rd slaps a single.

Bottom 3rd Inning

1:57 p.m.  3 Out
Martin vs. Braun
Flip the bat, toss the helmet after a K.

1:55 p.m.  2 Out
Milwaukee 2, Washington 0
Martin vs. Counsell
Cory Provus says Hardy is simply getting a day off.  Counsell sends a bomb deep to the warning track...IT'S GONE!  YES!!!!  12 game hitting streak.

1:54 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Martin vs. Lopez
The newest Brewer nails a line drive to center field, staying with a low-and-outside breaking ball.

1:53 p.m.  2 Out
Martin vs. Gallardo
At least in this battle of pitchers, Gallardo got wood on it - but Hernandez got a glove on it at his shoelaces.

1:51 p.m.  1 Out
Martin vs. Kendall
Morgan in center slides over to make the catch.  The two caught stealing instances didn't affect his defense.

Top 3rd Inning

1:48 p.m.  3 Out
Gallardo vs. Morgan
Kendall gets his second victim, though he threw the ball about seven feet away from 2nd base.  Counsell grabbed the ball in midair and swept the tag by the sliding Hernandez.  You are toast!  (Spectacular play!)

1:46 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Gallardo vs. Martin
The first battle of pitchers and Martin takes his second at-bat in the majors and takes strike three called.  3 K's.

1:42 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 1st
Gallardo vs. Hernandez
"Swing...and...a...miss strike three" but Hernandez protests, saying he didn't swing.  The bat flew, though.  It had to be a swing...heck, he threw the bat at the ball!

Jim Riggleman gets tossed as he argues Hernandez's case.

Twitter: @LisaManna
"Will I bring some luck?"  She's at the game: check out her TwitPic

1:37 p.m.  Runner on 1st
Gallardo vs. Nieves
The guy whose last name is inspired by Juan Nieves...not really...taps to McGehee who barehands and bobbles a slow, slow roller.

Some dude near the front row is wearing a Darth Vader costume.  We're guessing it's the vacationing Bill Michaels who wanted to watch the game incognito.

Bottom 2nd Inning

1:37 p.m.  3 Out
Martin vs. McGehee
Last night's hero skies one to right, 300 feet or so, for an out to Dunn.

1:34 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 1st
Martin vs. Cameron
Cammy skies it to left and Gonzalez does the butterfly swim motion to call off the other fielders and get the pop fly.  OK, Michael Phelps!

1:32 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 1st
Martin vs. Hart
A smash off J.D. Martin's leg allows Hart to advance to 1st...that hurt.  Ouch, babe.  He toughs it out.  He's a hockey player.

1:30 p.m.  1 Out
Martin vs. Fielder
A change-up horse-collars Fielder for a swinging K.

Top 2nd Inning

1:28 p.m.  3 Out
Gallardo vs. Harris
Lopez is eating ground balls in this inning.  Two delicacies...both spit up again.

1:27 p.m.  2 Out
Gallardo vs. Zimmerman
Lopez gobbles up the grounder and spit it out to Fielder at first.  Sounds like a bad fast food meal.

1:27 p.m.  1 Out
Gallardo vs. Dunn
First pitch goes to a McGehee with a little, not-so-country-strong pop-up.  Where's Merle Haggard?  It's all country references today.

Twitter: @BrewTownBeat
"From the looks of it, bigger crowd this afternoon than last night or Tuesday night. Milwaukee's unemployment rate must be sky high"

Bottom 1st Inning

1:21 p.m.  3 Out
Martin vs. Braun
Just like Ueck says Joe West is a country singer, J.D. Martin, the Nats' starter, sounds like a country singer's name.  This inning sounds like a country song, a broken-bat grounder to short.  The Brewers' 1st inning dog just died.

1:20 p.m.  2 Out
Martin vs. Counsell
An easy bouncer to first...this is too routine.

1:19 p.m.  1 Out
Martin vs. Lopez
A hard-hit liner to the left fielder...easy out.

Top 1st Inning

1:13 p.m.  3 Out
Gallardo vs. Dunn
By the way, Joe West is doing his 4,000th game as an umpire.  Ueck says he was a safety in college, but has grown into a huge "tackle or pulling guard...somebody pulling him.  He's also a country music singer, too."  Can someone explain who the country singer Joe West is to me?

Anyway, Casey McGehee took a perfect throw from the catcher and tagged Morgan with a mile to spare.

1:11 p.m.  2 Out, Runner on 2nd
Gallardo vs. Johnson
A lazy fly to right actually fooled Hart, but he didn't have to run far to make the catch.

1:10 p.m.  1 Out, Runner on 2nd
Gallardo vs. Gonzalez
After two quick strikes, it's "struck him out swinging!" as Ueck called it.  Gallardo is so big so often with K's with runners on base.

1:07 p.m.  Runner on 2nd
Gallardo vs. Morgan
The lefty batter goes full count, then starts the foul-off-pitches game that annoys starters in early innings.  Morgan slaps a linder and Braun missed the sliding catch.

Pregame

12:54 p.m.
No J.J. Hardy today in the lineup.  Just a day off or a sent message to the slumping shortstop?

12:40 p.m.
As producer Armen says, "it's a good day to have a dome."  It's intermittent rain across the Milwaukee area.

12:27 p.m.
Yovani Gallardo takes the mound as the Brewers try to take a series split from the Nationals.  It's definitely must win for a critical confidence boost going on a nine-game road trip to San Diego, Los Angeles and Houston.

And yes, I will be in L.A. for the Monday night game vs. the Dodgers!  Hopefully, I'll post some things here on the web site from our west coast Brewers pilgrimage!
