Lake Search Suspended
BROWNS LAKE - Divers suspended their search Wednesday afternoon for a missing 14-year-old boy. High winds are making it too difficult to search the water for Darius Nelson.
Nelson, who is from Milwaukee, disappeared under the water Tuesday afternoon while swimming with a camp group on Browns Lake in Burlington.
Earlier Wednesday, searchers believed they had found something using sonar equipment, but it turned out not to be the body.
His family was on the scene of the lake on Wednesday afternoon.
According to officials, he was at Browns Lake with one adult and a group of kids.
Apparently, Nelson was not known to be a strong swimmer. The adult threw him the life jacket, then went in the water to attempt to rescue him.
The adult nearly drowned, but he was rescued.
Officials say they will remain throughout Wednesday and hope to determine whether they should continue to search should they not find Nelson's body.
In addition to the problems created by the wind, crews are having trouble pinpointing the exact spot in the lake where the boy drowned.
