RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- It's been nearly 70 years since the first plane landed at the Racine airport, but its future is uncertain.

Batten International Airport manager David Mann says he sees the airport being able to operate for maybe another year. But he says flight activity has gone down, and the recession isn't helping.

One of Batten's main revenue sources is fuel sales, but corporations and recreational flyers have all reduced air travel.

Some corporations have cut their flying altogether, while others have cut back to save money.

Mann says the airport has shrunk from a 24-7 operation to about 10 hours on weekdays and nine hours on weekends.
