Friends Help Murder Victim

By Mick Trevey

MEQUON - Friends and family members of Yevgeniy Zlotin gathered for funeral services and a memorial luncheon Friday afternoon.  Zlotin was killed outside of a Milwaukee nightclub on Tuesday.  Family members say he worked at the nightclub and was shot during a robbery as he left for the night.

Zlotin and his wife have a 7-year-old daughter.  His wife is pregnant with their son who will be born this fall.  In order to help his wife, friends set up the "Yevgeniy Zlotin Wife and Kids Memorial Fund."  Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank and the money will go to help Zlotin's wife and children.

"They seemed just such a happy family, they were so excited," said friend Julia Mazur.  "I think his family really needs support."

The murder happened early Tuesday morning outside of the Zarko's North Star Night Club on Teutonia Avenue.  The club is owned by one of Zlotin's friends who was with him at the time of the murder.

Milwaukee Police are still investigating the case and are asking for tips about who could be Zlotin's killer.  One of Zlotin's friends, Igor Golovin, called the suspects "animals."  Golovin feels angry because he says the suspects are "responsible for taking a person's life over a couple of bucks."
