Local NewsPublic Enemies Premiere PartyBy Heather ShannonMILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee County Historical Society played host to Tuesday's Hollywood style premiere party of Public Enemies. The film, with an all-star cast including Johnny Depp and Christian Bale, was filmed partially in Wisconsin, in cities like Columbus, Darlington, Oshkosh, Beaver Dam, Madison, Milwaukee, and Manitowish Waters. About 200 people attended the premiere party, where they got to look at period costumes used in the film, were invited inside the bank vault used in a bank robbery scene, and walked on a red carpet. Many of the people at the premiere worked as extras in the movie. Jack Krutke of Hales Corners owns a 1935 collector car. The car was used in six scenes in the film; Jack got to drive it, dressed in period clothes with his real life wife riding shotgun. "It was pretty exciting. First time we ever did something like that," Krutke said. "When they did the bank robbery they used my car when they come out of the bank." That scene even made the front page of the Oshkosh newspaper. Krutke also gave TODAY'S TMJ4 an inside look at filming. He took dozens of pictures on the set in Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Madison, and Chicago. It was in Chicago where he met Johnny Depp. "He came up to the curb and did some small talk. He said, 'Hi, how are you,' and I did the same," Krutke said. "Was he a nice guy?" reporter Heather Shannon asked. "Real nice guy. Polite. Decent. Said to everyone on the set. Really a nice guy to meet," he replied. After the premiere party, everyone headed to the Majestic Theater in Brookfield for the film's premiere. The Majestic held a special advanced screening at 8:30. But since the movie officially opens nationwide on Wednesday, many local theaters are offering 12:01 a.m. screenings. |
