Attorney Wants Confession Thrown Out 4/20/2006

MANITOWOC - The attorney for Brendan Dassey has filed a motion to have his detailed confession to investigators tossed out of evidence.

The 16-year-old is accused of raping and killing Teresa Halbach in October with his uncle, Steven Avery.

Dassey's lawyer argues the teenager was coerced by police into making the confession.

He claims investigators promised they would help his client if he gave a detailed account of the crime, and it would be okay even if he participated in the murder.

A hearing is scheduled for May 4.
