Wisconsin's Unemployment Rate Dips in May
For the second month in a row, Wisconsin's unemployment rate has gone down. The state reported Thursday that the unemployment rate in May was 8.7 percent.
The unemployment rate in May was down one-tenth of a percent over April's rate. The rate is down seven-tenths of a percent from its peak in of 9.4 percent in March.
The state says businesses added nearly 34,000 jobs in May. Most of the jobs were in the service sector.
The unemployment rate is still significantly higher than it was one year ago. In May of 2008, the rate stood at 4.2 percent.
