TOWN OF OCONOMOWOC - A mangled mess is all that's left of a car driven by a man police say may have been drunk. To make matters even worse, than man had his 4-year-old son in the car with him. Town of Oconomowoc Police Lt. Russell Paar told TODAY'S TMJ4, “You wonder what these people are thinking when they’re doing that.” The accident happened 2:30 Friday afternoon on Lang Road just west of Highway 67. A silver Honda was heading west when it veered into oncoming traffic, hitting Ric Gerovac's pickup truck head on. “I was in the middle of the road," Gerovac said. "He basically went underneath my vehicle like his car was a lot smaller. It was like a wedge going under my vehicle and tipped me over." The Honda is registered to Watertown resident Allen Sweeting. Sweeting already has two OWI's. Both victims from Friday's car accident were airlifted to Froedtert Hospital. The driver was treated for a fractured leg; the little boy suffered only minor injuries. People who saw the accident can't believe they survived. "After we saw them put them into Flight for Life, I mean really believed someone was dead," said Joel Yochum who drove by shortly after the crash. Police say once the driver of the Honda is discharged from Froedtert, he will be taken straight to the Waukesha County Jail.
