Local NewsPowerball Players Dream BigBy George Mallet
OAK CREEK - Wednesday night when the Powerball jackpot reached $222 million, business was brisk at Gary’s Beer and Liquor. Most every patron added at least one lottery ticket to their purchase. Some added many.
“I play it religiously here,” said Ralph Potter as he forked over the cash for what he called a “Five Pack.”
But not everyone who bought a ticket was a regular.
“I’ve never played,” said Vinnie Maniaci. “I just turned 18 last week, so I want to win some money!”
This reporter was dreaming big and drove south of Oak Creek to Caledonia to shoot some pictures of what he’d surely buy: a big beautiful Friesian horse. But not everyone at Gary’s was dreaming quite that big or crazy.
“I’d be very interested in helping the community which has given me so much,” Ann Flick said thoughtfully.
But Rich Grams was thinking at least a little crazy.
“I’d like to buy a helicopter and learn how to fly it. Big one. I have a place up north so it would be really nice to just take off and fly up north with the helicopter,” Grams said.
