Organizer Charged, Not Students, After Prom Party

LAKE DELTON, Wis. (AP) -- The teenager who organized a large underage drinking party in Lake Delton after the Portage High School prom has been cited by police, but the students who drinking weren't charged.

The 19-year-old Wisconsin Dells man was cited for selling alcohol to minors, for selling alcohol without a license and permitting illegal alcohol consumption. The citations carry a total of more than $1,600 in fines.

High school administrators say an internal investigation was done with "countless" students who were believed to be at the party April 25. Students who admitted drinking were punished according to the high school's athletic code and co-curricular rules.

Portage police estimated about 50 underage students attended.
