Favre: Deadline, or Not?
Once again, the Minnesota Vikings have sent a message to Brett Favre demanding that he decide his intentions on whether he will play for them this season.
...Or have they?
ESPN cites two sources telling them that Vikings coach Brad Childress has given a deadline of this week for Favre to make his call on playing in 2009 for them. Sources say the team is unconvinced that his arm will be ready for game conditions.
However, ProFootballTalk.com is now quoting Pat Kirwan of Sirius NFL Radio as saying he's learned no such deadline exists. Kirwan is known to be close to Childress, and goes so far as to say any story about a deadline is "made up" and "not true."

There were earlier reports the Vikings had given a one-week deadline to Favre last month as well, but it passed without a commitment or decision from the former Packers quarterback.
