Harley to Hit Million Mile Mark

By George Mallet

MUKWONOGO - Aboard his 1340cc Harley, Dave Zien pulled into the driveway of Tony SanFelipo’s ranch house looking like a man who has been on the road for awhile. His wind blown beard, thick mane of gray hair and full length leathers gave him the appearance of a character from a futuristic science fiction film; a cross between Mad Max and Moses. The big Harley, by the way, is named Suzanna Ala Sha-Luck A Lay Ya. Dave is an old-school Harley guy and feels it is important to name one’s bike. He and Suzanna are about to cross the million mile mark. Suzanna will become the first Harley to have a documented million miles on her resume. “Suzanna has been with me since 1991,” Dave said enthusiastically. “We did the million miles of heartache and failure and tragedy and breakdowns. Every breakdown is a tragedy.” We had to ask Dave how many bugs he’s eaten while piloting Suzanna from one end of the continent to the other multiple times. “Oh there have been lots of bugs,” he said with a laugh. “But you have to look at the other side. There is lots of fresh air and freedom.” This former Wisconsin state Senator has surely enjoyed all of that fresh air and freedom.
