FRANKLIN—The Franklin Common Council decided to suspend the liquor license of the Buckhorn Inn for 90 days Tuesday night. The suspension stems from the December 2007 deaths of a West Allis couple.
Gary and Barbara Kitchen were run down by Eddie Keck after drinking at the bar on Christmas. Franklin police say Keck had nine beers and nine shots of liquor before getting behind the wheel.
Keck later pleaded guilty to two counts of intoxicated use of a vehicle. He is now serving a lengthy prison term.
Originally an attorney for Buckhorn Inn owner Christopher Matecki proposed a 75 day suspension of the establishment’s liquor license. That idea was agreed to by an attorney hired by the common council. But then the council rejected that idea as too lenient.
Tuesday night the council voted 4-1 in favor of the 90 day closure.
