MPD Investigates Seitz's Past

By Dan O'Donnell

MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee Police is looking into the past of Vernon Seitz, who told his psychiatrist on his deathbed that he was kidnapped and forced to kill a boy when he was just 12 years old.

Officers subpoenaed the doctors to see if Seitz, 62, was actually invovled in a homicide or any child abductions.

According to court documents obtained by TODAY'S TMJ 4, when officers went to check on Seitz's well-being last month, they found him dead of natural causes amid a veritable mountain of disturbing possessions.

A search warrant indicates that investigators found child pornography, paintings of small boys being tortured, and even a book on cannibalism. They also found missing children flyers from nearby states along with news clippings on missing children.

Now the Milwaukee Police Department has obtained records from Seitz's psychiatrist to see if the troubled barber could have been involved in any open missing persons cases or murders.

"He came to see me because he was having issues with post traumatic stress disorder, chronic anxiety, anxiety attacks, nightmares, insomina, and disturbing thoughts," said Dr. Victoria Fetters, who would not discuss the notes she turned over to police.

The psychiatrist couldn't say whether she thought Seitz was capable of harming any child but did agree the findings in the house were strange.

"I guess that would indicate a certain level of emotional disturbance," she said.

The Racine Police Department said it found no evidence to back up Seitz's alleged confession and Milwaukee Police say they haven't linked him to any homicides or child abductions.
