Milwaukee Police say there is no evidence that the man who lived in a small home in the 900 block of E. Conway St. killed any children.

But they say that doesn't mean Vernon Seitz wasn't a creepy guy. What they found inside his house and what he told his psychiatrist would make any parent cringe.

When police arrived at Seitz's house in December, they not only found him dead, they found what appears to be the secret life of a very strange man.

According to a search warrant obtained by TODAY'S TMJ4, "during an emergency sweep of Seitz's residence officers noticed newly poured cement in Seitz's basement" and "elevated dirt piles in the yard and bondage devices in the basement, hanging from the floor rafters."

Search warrants show police found pictures and drawings of naked young boys, boys in bondage, and books on cannibalism one is tilted, "Eat Thy Neighbor."

Investigators also found "child pornography on Seitz's bed approximately 4-5 feet from where Seitz had died" as well as "Missing flyers of small children from nearby states and communities, along with news articles of missing children."

Among the flyers of missing children were those depicting Jacob Wetterling, who was 11-years-old when he disappeared from his home in St. Joseph, Minnesota in October of 1989, and Michael Dunahee, who was just 5 when he vanished from Vancouver, British Columbia in May of 1991.

It is unclear whether Seitz had any involvement in either of those cases, but his alleged deathbed confession raised numerous questions, especially since police found children's shoes in Seitz's home.

"I guess it just goes to show you don't really know the secrets of your neighbors," said Jordan Burich, who lives near Seitz's house. "We really didn't know what was going on, but when [investigators] brought a jackhammer, we knew there was something more nefarious going on."

Police dug up the basement floor, but no bodies were found.ly participated in it, then you may have other problems and other victims that need to be identified and interviewed."
