Milwaukee Fire Deaths Down Dramatically

  • Print

The number of people killed in fires in Milwaukee last year dropped dramatically.

Six people died in fires in 2008.

Fourteen people died due to fires in 2007.

"There are many things I attributed to the decrease in the city's fire deaths including our skilled firefighters, level of expertise, the Milwaukee Fire Department's excellent response times, our firefighter's valiant rescue efforts and how aggressively they attack fires in dwellings and buildings," said Milwaukee Fire Chief Doug Holton.

None of last year's victims were elderly or under the age of 18.
