Plane Returns to Mitchell After Gear Problem
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- An official with Air Wisconsin Airlines Corp. says a flight returned safely to the Milwaukee airport shortly after takeoff, after an indicator light suggested a possible problem.
Airline spokeswoman Annette Daly says the flight left Milwaukee for Charlotte at 7:05 a.m. Friday. She says a warning light went off about 10 seconds after takeoff indicating a possible issue with the landing gear.
The flight landed back safely about 8:30 a.m. after circling the airport to burn fuel. The airport had crash and rescue vehicles on hand as a precaution.
Daly says the plane taxied to the gate under its own power. She says the 47 passengers were accommodated on other flights.
Air Wisconsin is a regional carrier that was operating the flight for US Airways Express.
