Every day on Live at 3:00, we have a segment called “Sound Off,” where you can give us your take on a topic.
Monday’s Sound Off Question: Should the city of Milwaukee be allowed to impose an additional sales tax on cigarettes over and above the $1.77 per pack state tax?
This is based on a Journal Sentinel article that says one Milwaukee alderman wants a city cigarette tax.
Alderman Terry Witkowski has introduced a Common Council resolution calling on the Legislature to let municipal and county governments impose their own cigarette taxes.
Those local taxes would be collected on top of the state charge.
