Problems For Travelers At Airport Sunday Night

By Aaron Diamant

MILWAUKEE – Problems caused by the winter weather at other airports made for problems at Mitchell International Airport Sunday night. Flying on the Sunday after Thanksgiving is often difficult, but just how bad things were Sunday night depended on what airline you flew. “Everything is overbooked and booked up from the holidays, to let you know,” one ticket agent said Sunday night. It seems the folks flying United with connections in Chicago caught the worst of it. “I mean, there’s not even enough staff to make any announcements, honestly. They said we were boarding the flight, then the flight got an hour and a half more delayed and we were all going to miss our connections,” Sam Friedland from Providence, Rhode Island said. The flight boards Sunday even listed canceled flights leaving Milwaukee on time. The look on one guy’s face said it all. TODAY’S TMJ4’s Aaron Diamant: “You think you’ll see Denver tonight?” “I think I’ll see it tomorrow morning,” Pete Burns from Colorado Springs said. Travelers Sunday had to deal with lousy weather, long lines and little hope of making their connections just 80 miles away. The solution: a bus for those who wanted to ride down to O’Hare. The only catch: passengers had to pay for it, because the weather messed everything up, which was not the airline’s fault. Aaron Diamant: “So, in all, a pretty good afternoon.” “Oh, it’s fabulous. Packers got beat, miss our flight, and now I get to pay this guy $50 to get to Chicago,” Scott Yancey from San Francisco said.
