Couple Stuck In FL With Kangaroo, Goat

By Katie DeLong

BEAVER DAM - A couple from Beaver Dam, and their pet kangaroo and goat traveled to Florida in their RV. The RV caught fire and now they're all stuck there. This is the story of a goat named Edward and a kangaroo named Jack and how they got stranded in Pinellas County. Their owners, Larry and Diane Moyer, brought them from their Wisconsin exotic animal farm to Florida in their RV for a vacation. “They look at us like ‘what the hell kind of weird vehicle is that that went by, or weird people that just went by in that vehicle.’ I understand. I guess I would kinda look at it weird in my own way but we never had anybody say anything negative you know,” Larry Moyer said. Sunday night, a fire destroyed the RV, leaving them without a way to get back to Wisconsin. The animals were inside with Diane when the fire started. “I said I got Jack, get Edward, and by that time Edward almost went up, I mean, we had a hard time grabbing him that quick, because, you know, he's disabled,” Diane Moyer said. Jack can't balance on his tail which never mended correctly after it was broken when he was born. Edward can't walk. His legs were hurt in a car accident, but both animals get plenty of love from their owners. “They both have their own wardrobe of clothes at home, designer diapers. Edward has a day bed that he sleeps in at night. Jack sleeps with me,” Edward has been to Florida several times, but this was Jack's first trip. “I think he's enjoying the warm weather real well because he doesn't get out much in the winter time up in Wisconsin because it is so cold up there,” The Red Cross set up the Moyers and their animals in a motel. Then relatives wired them money to buy a used car so they could drive home.
